Exchange with student in Hawaii (Japanese)

Naoko

On Thursday, December 16, 2004, we did videoconferencing with the student in Hawaii.

We divided into some groups, and everything was done in Japanese, and the conversation was advanced for about 15 minutes in shape that the student in Hawaii chiefly questioned on a present Japanese culture.

I did not hear the voice only by the image first. So it became uneasy when really connecting. When the voice was heard, I was impressed. It was the enjoyment what reaction they showed though the answer of our question was because of other their teacher's interpreting and existing, and existed among reactions. When the reaction was shown on the inside at once, there was an answering person, too and Japanese was understood, it felt admiration.

The question was the one of knowing artist's favorite speaking and the actor in the other side. I was very glad that the student in Hawaii must know the activity of the Japanese and have something in common to talk about.

But when we answered our favorite artist in foreign country, I was surprised that they said old. I could know foreign circumstances a little.

There was a sense of incompatibility in transmitting me delaying operation and the voice. But I felt that reality has been worn as the conversation advances.

And I thought the people who are reflected on this screen exist.

There was time when I had exchanged mail with the student in the foreign country at the first grader. But I did not have the exchanged actually feeling.

I thought it is wonderful that it is possible to exchange it by such a means with the student in the foreign country. It was good that I was able to experience it.
